Full-Stack Software Engineering Lead/Head of Software Engineering

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and self-driven full-stack software engineer with deep hands-on experience to lead product development. As an early member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in defining the technical product strategy, driving development and growing the engineering team. This role will give you the opportunity to build a high-impact product that will democratize access to critical resources that fuel scientific research and development.

  • Full-Stack Development:

    • Work across the full stack, from backend to frontend, ensuring seamless integration and performance optimization.

    • Design, develop, and maintain user-friendly, responsive web applications

    • Design, implement, and manage databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval using SQL, NoSQL, or vector databases.

  • Cloud Security and Data Privacy:

    • Implement best practices for cloud security and data privacy in all aspects of the development lifecycle.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

    • Provide thought leadership for emerging data security and privacy methods

  • Production Operations:

    • Collaborate with the product team to define, design, and ship new capabilities.

    • Productionize data engineering pipelines, data management infrastructure and AI applications.

    • Ensure agile product development, test and production process and operations

About You

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer

    • Focus on cloud security and data privacy

    • Expert in agile software development for SaaS products

  • Technical Skills:

    • Highly proficient in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.

    • Extensive experience with building SaaS products in AWS, Azure or GCP

    • Used CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)

    • Experience with web and frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Django, Angular).

    • Experience with SQL, NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

    • You possess a strong understanding of various architectures and their tradeoffs.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    • Proactive, self-driven and comfortable working in a dynamic start-up environment

    • Capable of thriving in ambiguous situations and driving to clarity

  • Desired Skills:

    • Developed marketplace offerings

    • Experience integrating and optimizing LLMs and Agents into product applications

    • Knowledge of embedding vector databases (e.g. Qdrant, PGVector).

    • Growing and leading high-performing software engineering teams
