Managing varied data from disparate sources
To handle the variability in breadth, depth, and structure of inventory and medical metadata from providers in a scalable manner, we developed an AI-driven ingestion workflow that evaluates and harmonize data across providers and streamline the matching process.
Interpreting researcher requests
To ensure that we can match requests accurately, we trained models to map inclusion and exclusion criteria from a researcher’s natural language request to information from inventory and medical metadata from our provider.
Matching requests to sample and data inventory from providers
Our matching engine then leverages our custom built multi-step Al workflow to apply the inclusion and exclusion criteria to the full set of inventory from our providers and rank the results in order of relevance. This determines which providers are most likely able to fulfill a request.

It depends on the complexity of the request and the turnaround time of the provider. For requests with more criteria, it generally takes longer to confirm with providers. Typically, we are able to confirm preliminary matches with partner providers and respond to your request in 1-3 weeks. If we can’t confirm matching samples, we will continue to look for matches with our newly onboarded providers and newly collected samples and data, until you no longer need them.

Specie Bio has a global network of provider partners from health systems, research institutes, medical institutes, mission-driven organizations and biobanks. This network includes millions of available specimens and tens of millions of annual patient visits, and is rapidly expanding.

We use the budget information provided in your request to match you with relevant providers that meet your requirements. Our provider partners set their own charge back fees, often only to cover their operational cost. Specie Bio charges a standard fee structure only if you decide to proceed with any of the matched providers.
